BEDWETTING CONDITION IN KIDS
Bedwetting is a common condition that is seen to exist in people of all age groups, especially in children who are below 6years of age. Bedwetting is defined as the habit of passing urine unknowingly at night. Bedwetting in children can be caused due to a variety of reasons. The major reason behind this condition is the fact that children’s brain, take more time to gain control over the body functions including urination. Bedwetting can also be caused due to the inadequate synthesis of ADH hormone. In some children the size of the bladder will be comparatively small. This causes the bladder to experience lot of pressure and urinate unknowingly. Urinary infection in kids is also known to cause this habit of bedwetting. Psychological disturbance and stress due to child abuse, family problems, etc are also found to have major impact on a child, ultimately leading to bedwetting. There are some remedial measures that can be adopted, in order to make your kid get rid of this habit. Wake your child in the middle of night to empty the bladder. Don’t allow your child to intake more fluid before going to sleep. Never blame your child for bedwetting, as it will create a sense of fear and shame in the child. If the condition worsens by causing the child to urinate frequently then it is advisable to consult a doctor.
NAIL BITING HABIT IN KIDS
Nail biting is not a serious problem or disease. This habit of nail biting can occur in people of any age group but it is more commonly seen condition in children. A number of factors are responsible for making a child addicted towards this habit. The first and foremost reason that is found to cause this habit is insecurity. Many children nowadays are deprived of proper love and care from their mother. This causes a feeling of loneliness and insecurity to occur in the mind of children. Mental stress due to daily routine activities, fear, anxiety and tension are also known to be some of the factors which are responsible for inducing a child to get into the habit of biting nails. This habit can be eradicated under the guidance and assistance of parents. Parents should observe the child periodically and check when the child is engaged in biting nails and can cover the fingers with puppets. It is also important to advise your child on the ill effects of nail biting and tell your kid that the nails contain harmful microbes and germs that are capable of causing sickness. Something bitter can be rubbed in your child’s handle to control himself/herself from biting nails. Cutting nails periodically will also help a child to get rid of this habit. Ensure that your child doesn’t become addicted to this habit as it may affect the mental growth and self confidence of a child.
